Ok this is my first review so here goes. I will try to make a review that works without spoilers.

I watched all of Ga-Rei Zero (GRZ) in one sitting mainly because I couldn’t get enough. The plot was gripping and the action was very good and well placed.
The overall animation was smooth and well drawn and the voices were top notch.

So where to start? The first two episodes are used to great effect, hooking you into the story and leaving you on a cliff hanger that isn’t reviled until later in the anime. This gives you the viewer a new perspective on the rest of the anime, always wondering how it all fits together and wanting to know more.

The over arcing plot of Ga-Rei Zero is very good and fits perfectly into the 12 episodes. Any longer and things could possibly have become drawn out and tired and any smaller the plot would have felt cramped into too small a space. The story itself is fantastically multi layered telling a the story of a young girl thrust into the world of exorcising demons but also of the love between Yomi and Kagura. The plot drives well up until the climactic finish but also leaves itself wide open for the manga sequel Ga-Rei (something which I now must read).

Personally I found the action in GRZ very good. The sword fights were well made and interesting use the weapons and environment gave some fights an extra level. Some people didn’t like the array of somewhat ridiculous weapons the supporting members of the cast had but I found they added a little comic relief.

The music as to be expected of an action anime really adds another level of depth to the anime. Agematsu, Noriyasu really does a good job with each piece of music complimenting the action.

In conclusion if you are an action anime fan then this is defiantly worth a watch. I rarely give out 9’s or 10’s out of 10 and this is no exception, it certainly deserves the “very good” that denotes an 8 out of 10.

The only thing I can’t get my head round is why they haven’t made Ga-Rei an anime yet!!?

I hope this has been helpful to you all.
