The show starts with great momentum and gets you interested quickly.
From the very beginning the main character is NOT a pushover wuss like every other show being made. (Thank you! it's about time!) He gives you the reactions you want when you want them. But the best part about the main char, is that he does the polar opposite of everything you expect. Whenever you expect a typical lovey-dovey line or decision- he embraces the hate and it's a thing of beauty.
The storytellers did a fantastic job of differentiating characters. As well as a
conveying a sense of work & accomplishment without blatantly telling you.
Typical anime themes are not over used. Of course there are female characters that fall for the main guy, but your time isn't being wasted by getting reminded of it every 3-1/2 minutes. What usual themes do occur, add to the story, but are not used as filler.
Animation looked great. Very clear and very nice, does a great job conveying the story they're trying to tell.
No trouble hearing or understanding lines like a lot of other shows.
Overall, a much needed breath of fresh air with excellent execution.
