Mixed Feelings
If I were to describe what I thought of No Game No Life: Zero in one sentence I would say this: I thought it was a good movie, but not a good No Game No Life movie. I love No Game No Life. I love how stupidly over the top it is, I love Sora and Shiro, I love the artwork, I love the music, I love the fan service, so when going into No Game No Life: Zero I expected to get all of that all in one move, but to my surprise, the movie took a different route. Instead, No Game No Life: Zero decided to replace the over the top fun with a more serious story line about love and the human heart. Let me just say this first, I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was well made and I could see myself watching more. That being said, I thought the movie didn't resonate enough the original series and was overall unnecessary. The reason I love No Game No Life is because of how over the top fun it is and the fact that the movie removes, in my opinion, the best aspect of the show kind of turned me off. If this movie was somehow a standalone movie or was part of a series with a more serious tone I probably wouldn't have anything against it but the fact that it is called a No Game No Life movie isn't necessarily offensive, but instead is more or less disappointing. I guess it doesn't really matter though because this show is never getting a second season. Oh well.
