The biggest thing about this series was the pacing. I just recently saw Baccano!, but what bothers me is that it's told the same way, just substitute the characters and scenarios and drag it on about twice out.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed DRRR thoroughly; most of the characters were fun to watch, Izaya and Shizuo made the series tons of fun for me, but the main three character annoyed me quite a bit up until close to the end of the series. To have to put up with annoying characters with such irritating faults for 16+ episodes without understanding (or much less giving me a reason to care) them fully until that point is wasted potential.

It's a unique storytelling technique but don't repeat the exact same formula for a completely different series. Heck, even the intros are the same style without the catchy Paradise Lunch.

I think the most fun otherwise I had was trying to identify the different anime series that were given shameless plugs from Brain's Base (i.e. Baccano!, Darker Than Black, Spice and Wolf, etc).

All in all, very enjoyable series and I'd recommend this much more than I would Baccano!, but seeing both got me annoyed that the same formula is used here too and I often found myself left hanging. Difference is with DRRR, loose ends are *eventually* tied up...just don't get lost on the way.
