Youthful love is rarely depicted as raw and mysterious as it does in Tsuki ga Kirei. Perhaps, it is how love works in the real world.

This show is a perfect example of a romantic show with no additional strings attached. The exceptional simplicity of its plot (a fallacy that some may criticize as a weakness of this anime) quietly contributes to the character interactions, silent facial expressions, and unmistakable realism sprinkled all throughout. Certain animation sequences and dialogues prove to be exceptional, even without a story as deeply detailed as watchers have come to accept. While at times aspects of the plot may be frustratingly confusing, or the actions of the characters strange, it is best to look at it from an outsider's perspective peering into a blossoming relationship. The entire cast is maturing past childhood into a world of maturity, slowly shedding their shy-adorned masks and embracing growing feelings for each other. Characters in the spotlight discover each other, and begin forging relationships that blossom into beautiful romantic ones. It is this transition that can create a deep connection with the watcher, and before you know it, you yourself are in love.

Corny statements aside, I personally enjoyed watching this anime. Yes, I felt as if it was slightly rushed near the end, and that the art style can be too simplistic in some cases, or that the actions of characters sometimes bugged me to no end. Nonetheless, I relished every minute of this show, and I wholeheartedly believe that this coming-of-age romance drama would serve as a nice break from the plot-heavy drama shows on a typical anime watcher's currently-watching palette.
