The "Story": (*SPOILERS*) I put "" around story because this show really doesn't have one. It started off with a good premise. Dude gets put into a game-ish world and gets falsely accused of rape. He is then cast out by his comrades and is rock bottom. Really good stuff for a show called Rising of The Shield Hero, since he has to start from bottom and rebuild his reputation. BUT! the show dismisses that after a few episodes like it never even happened. After about episode 4 things go downhill quick. Nothing of any meaning happens at this point. There's no plot or over-arcing story to be seen, Some of the most boring and anti-climatic fight scenes I've seen in any show, BORING characters, It has one or two decent episodes sprinkled in like episode 15 but that's about it.
Art: It's pretty generic, nothing stands out as pretty or anything but that's not a bad thing. It's not painful to look at but It's also not beautiful, just meh
Sound: Again nothing special. The First op is really good but the rest of the score is very generic. Which is sad since it is Kevin Penkin who did the Made in Abyss OST (which is amazing if you didn't know) and the sound of character abilities is boring, they have no oompf to them, forgettable.
Characters: Naofumi is both smart and dumb at the same time. He's a good judge of character one minute and terrible the next. He's okay as far as characters go but he doesn't stand out like other protagonists in other shows. Raphtalia is probably the only decent character in this show. She's also the only character who gets any development (Literally). Filo is annoying but you get used to it. Malty could've been a good character but she just turns into part of the harem girl #3. The other "heroes" are extremely ANNOYING. They are also 100% useless. The Redhead (cant even remember her name) is someone the show wants you to hate but just end up getting annoyed at the sight of her. She will give you a headache. All the other side characters are very forgettable and don't do anything for the "story".
Enjoyment: After the first few episodes and episode 15, I don't see how people get excited to watch this show week after week.
Overall: Skip it, if you want a show like this watch the following instead: Log Horizon (Very similar) Overlord (Very Similar) Sword Art Online... (This but somehow better) Anything else...
