Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is the definition of a school, comedy, SoL story and this is why it's so great. It doesn't try to take a new direction, it stays true to what it is. You can see alot of anime you get bored after the first episodes, because they're going in a totally new way than in the beginning, but you won't feel anything like that here (little spoiler: only that the later episodes have less major events).

Characters: You won't get characters that need development first. You get fleshed out characters who mostly speak through their own actions of who they are, yet you still won't feel like an outsider, something you don't see most of the times. They don't try to be memorable or anything, even the anime tells you that you don't have to remember their names, yet you will still do after a couple of episodes and man, do they still become memorable.

Art: It's pretty much a basic anime artstyle that doesn't differ from what is supposed to be "general" and that's what makes this good. Alot of anime nowadays try to adapt unique artstyles, you don't know how to feel about, and alot of times, you may feel like it doesn't even fit.

Sound: I can't really say too much about that, I didn't really follow what I heard and I don't remember any memorable tracks here (aside from the OPs and EDs), but I always felt like they have the right tracks for the situations.

Overall: Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is maybe something you feel like alot of people just let it rot in their "Plan to Watch" list, but when they pull it out, most just can't put into words how great it is. Yeah, some jokes are pretty hit or miss, but it's pretty subjective on this point. All I can say is, it's worth the watch if you can appreciate humor that doesn't rely on references and stuff.
