This shoujo coming-of-age is nothing you haven't seen before unless you started anime within the last month, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not worth watching. Equal parts drama, romance and comedy as set in the world of showbiz, a typical charming lead that tries to make self-insertion easy scrapes up the ladder with a variety of virtues that play much better on screen than they ever would in real life, with important people regularly going out of their way for someone they barely know as she rises to the top. But that's par for the course and rarely detracts from the presentation.

Two points need to be made. Don't watch this if you're looking for music, there is none. I'd like a single in here somewhere, better yet two - dueling tracks from the male leads would be excellent. Kyoko isn't a singer, but an entertainment anime deserves some memorable music and the OP/ED don't provide.

Two, the acting scenes don't sell. Kyoko spontaneously and repeatedly transforms, almost magical-girl-style, into a premiere actress without any real training and at the drop of a hat. Fine, prodigies exist - but then the way she's written when she's supposed to be amazing doesn't resonate.

The ending leaves a lot of space for a second season, an OVA, something, and I personally found it disappointing, but I can understand this decision and won't criticize, even if I would be surprised by a continuation. Outside from this, it's an entertaining ride that's worth a watch on a rainy Sunday or more generally if there's not a ton on your plate. If you like Twilight this is right up your alley, without the fanfiction aftertaste. 7 of 10.
