I really like Giant Killing, but moreso than most people will like it, and my rating reflects this. The executive summary is that it's a fairly standard sports anime with only a couple of distinguishing twists. If you're not a fan of sports anime (not shonen, sports), there likely isn't a ton here for you. It's release to coincide with the 2010 World Cup likely brought it to a wider audience than it would otherwise merit.

This shoujo coming-of-age is nothing you haven't seen before unless you started anime within the last month, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not worth watching. Equal parts drama, romance and comedy as set in the world of showbiz, a typical charming lead that tries to make self-insertion easy scrapes up the ladder with a variety of virtues that play much better on screen than they ever would in real life, with important people regularly going out of their way for someone they barely know as she rises to the top. But that's par for the course and rarely detracts from the presentation.
