Durarara!! is a very good anime for those who like anime with hints of mystery, romance, and the occult. However, Durarara!! does not match up with its predecessor Baccano!!, for several reasons.
[STORY]
The story of durarara is a rather interesting concept. Basically, it's the coming together of several small happenings in a large, dark, and secretive city. I gave the story an 8 for a simple reason: the ending of durarara!! was downright terrible. The ending blew off almost all my hopes and basically crushed all the awesomeness that was building up as the anime progressed. This is one of the reasons why Baccano!! is better, baccano was consistent.
[ART]
The art was okay, I personally didn't understand why everyone thought anji was cute, she was downright ugly compared to other female mains from other anime. (Baccano's art trumps durarara's, although they're quite similar)
[SOUND]
The sound was just amazing. Durarara's OPs were by far 2 of the best OPs I've ever heard. The first ED was okay, the second ED was quite good.
[CHARACTER]
Durarara!! had amazing characters, on par with even baccano. However, unlike baccano, the character depth was uneven. Still, durarara did well with orihara izaya and shizuo.

Overall, Durarara's great, but don't get your hopes up for the ending!
