Story: 9/10
The story of Goblin Slayer is just great. It adds a dark, unforgivable twist to the oversaturation of fantasy genre. Unlike your typical fantasy series (or even almost any series) where if you beat a monster or someone, then you'd have no problem facing them off after that, in Goblin Slayer while it indeed does feel like the protagonist is getting more and more skilled after slaying more and more goblins, it never feels certain that he will emerge victorious, which is just rare for me.
Art: 3/10
The art of Goblin Slayer is just.... terrible to the point I'm having trouble enjoying it. Don't even get me started with the bad CG and the really jarring, constant switch of bad CG and hand-drawn (not actually) animation, the hand-drawn animation itself is terrible and feels really low budget. Many of the action shots after the first episode are actually still frames, and that's where you're supposed to put the money shot into.
Sound: 4/10
I'd say the sound design is decent, but the reason why I'm giving such low rating is the fight scene's background music. The metal music BGM is really out of touch with the fantasy settings and it makes the goblins feels really weak, which makes the show more feeling like a power fantasy than a dark fantasy.
Moreover it makes me think that White Fox sees the "Goblin Slayer is just Doom Slayer in fantasy setting." comments from the trailer to the point where they just immediately hires a bunch of metal artists to make it feel like DOOM. It's just not right for me, Goblin Slayer is indeed as badass as the Doom Slayer but he is NOT the Doom Slayer. Whereas Doom Slayer is certain to win and kills his enemies, Goblin Slayer is not, he doesn't receive any special powers so he only relies on his instinct, experience, and guts.
Character: 5/10
The characters from Goblin Slayer has personalities yes, but the little details here and there that they left out from the source materials really makes them less relatable.
Enjoyment: 2/10
The bad CG, bad animation, the Metal BGM that really makes me hate the show to the point where I don't even want to finish it.
Overall: 3/10
Goblin Slayer is a medieval dark fantasy anime that tries to put a spin to the oversaturated fantasy setting but fails to do so due to poor execution.
