Preliminary (4/12 eps)
I understand why there is a certain group of people not accustomed to the reality Goblin Slayer sets in the first episode, yes its bad, and yes its gritty however this is done in order to make the viewer understand the world the characters are put into. Often times in media goblins are portrayed as easy monsters to be killed by the dozens, however Goblin Slayer is not other media. Goblins are evil, vile, and must be killed at all costs.

Through out the anime Goblin Slayer's character is expressed through his actions rather than his words, allowing for the viewer to have to put themselves in his shoes to understand him. Through the violence and gore, the viewer gets a better idea of the reason behind Goblin Slayers actions and then start to form a connection with him. He is also surrounded by a cast of characters who try to bring out the human side in him, making the few moments of personality he exhibits rewarding.

The overall plot helps move character development for the cast and bring out the best in the characters provided. Over time the viewer becomes more invested in the cast and wants to follow them on their journey.

I recommend this if you enjoy a gritty action anime with character development from the journey.

If you are worried about the scenes in the first episode please push on and make up your own mind instead of only looking at the surface level or listening to a negative opinion.

Sorry for any grammar issues.
