Violet evergarden was a short anime and upon getting Netflix I decided to test my Xbox one Xs power and decided to watch my first anime in full 4K resolution, and wow, it was completely stunning, violet struggles with emotions so her character development in my eyes would seem hard to do, yet in the end they still manage to develop her character, Violet is seen as a “weapon” of war, and rightly so as she is a complete badass as shown in later episodes(I really loved the flashback episodes and her in the war) as Violet sets out to find out what the mysterious words “I love you” mean, which was told to her upon the death of her major. Violet as a character was brilliant, it was ultimately about her developing as a person, and for such a short anime I felt extremely connected to the character. The visuals were absolutely stunning, expecting nothing less from kyoto animation and they deliver wonderfully, I think the two best things about the show were the visuals and the music, one note is that the music was always ongoing for some reason, in scenes where the show could be silent for extra effect, it plays music, however maybe I’m just picky. The episodes more or less felt like “short stories” in which there would be a character, who Violet writes letters for, there’s drama and then it usually gets fixed, this is kinda off putting because the characters in every episode do not get much screen time, the episode with the mother and kid made me really emotional though. Overall I’d rate Violet Evergarden 8/10, and a movie is coming out so I’ll be checking it out most likely, wonderful show.
