Update: This shit sucks. Utter garbage. I'm leaving my original review as it shows the decline in quality that just got worse and worse towards the end...

Dometic na Kanojo, or DomeKano for short, is an intriguing story about romantic relationships inlcuding taboo student/teacher and step-sibling ones. But there are many other themes and motifs that are explored as the main characters develop throughout the story.
While there was the potential for a great story, the execution was mediocre at best. The parts I appreciated the most about this work had a Maison Ikkoku-esque feel to them: It was the main characters' journey through life and his development to find his path and achieve his dream. The problem is, it has the same pitfalls as many other works in this genre: it resorts to cheap drama and "coincidences" to advance the plot. The results in an insulting, predictable plot and really devalues the characters. One redeeming aspect is that the plot actually seems to advance, albeit slowly, and is not stuck perpetually at the same stage. I also appreciate how it showcases different types of relationships between classmates, co-workers, and so on. But then again, the cliched character interactions devalue this and make it seem like any other run of the mill romance.
The art is probably the redeeming feature. It's enjoyable to read, and fanservice was not overused, but it rather felt connected with the story.
All considered, I kept going hoping the plot will advance and the story improves. And it kind of did. I'll keep following this to see where it goes.

As of ch. 197:
story 5
art 8
character 4
enjoyment 6
overall 6
