I see that the ratings of this anime aren't that high and splendid. That's probably because a lot have overhyped this before release and probably disappointed after seeing it. My experience is perhaps different from most and I hope you'll be able to understand where I'm coming from.

As everyone was expecting, this new series would have amazing graphics and illustrations and I believe that's the best factor that carried this series throughout. My first impressions were to be a Mecha-Fantasy genre that will come out of this series since I haven't read the light novel. But in actuality, the genres depicted here are of course, the military and action tags which were executed well since those were the main points of the story. Whenever a series has beautiful art, there's one thing that usually comes along with it and that is drama. Well... the drama is enough to give the story a kind of a different feel. Moreover, the story is centered around the main character trying to understand different complex emotions that humans have. Don't worry though, the main character is human but she was raised in the military and that's why she didn't really undergo living a normal life. I'm not giving out spoilers here and I'm only stating out the contents of the synopsis. Another factor is the Fantasy that is tagged for this series. I'm wondering how this show was fantasy themed. Maybe because of the mecha or steampunk element? Excluding those, this show is as normal as the human life where there is conflicts and war and everything we experience in the most ordinary. Each arc that was displayed has a passionate story and sincerity like no other. Because of the adventure genre, you will be going places but your feelings will not be all over the place. When you set aside the action, all you're left with is a story that will try and mend broken hearts and put them back in place. The story is unique but I found the plot a bit too predictable. Going back to the art, well.. Yes.. Amazing... that's the only word I can describe it with. Kyoto Animation is known for their chibi-style and cute art but somehow they tried to do realistic style. And they did very well for this series. I can't begin to tell how amazing the sceneries and backgrounds look even if you just stop and pause just to have an amazing view. Everything was very detailed. Though the sound had a lot of great melodies, I'm not sure if it had a good harmony with their timing. Whenever there is a sad scene, the music compliments it usually but there are times when the music is kinda off and that's all you hear when you're supposed to listen to the dramatic lines of the characters. Still, the soundtrack did a great job with associating with the drama. The characters fit so well for this series. I was not expecting the main character to be this way but I was not too disappointed with her development cause that's the factor that carried her personality. Drama doesn't really take effect unless the characters have genuine feelings. Luckily, the emotions you will see here are as true as they can be. Regarding the enjoyment, I'm not too sure whether you're here to enjoy or just appreciate this work of art. It may not be as popular as it was when it was airing, but I still think that it shines greatly as it is though a lot have been disappointed by this series. It's been a while since I've seen a drama that brought me to tears and I am happy that I have felt genuine feelings from true drama. For one to enjoy means satisfaction from the conclusion and I'm glad to tell you that it was achieved and this truly is a series that does not need any further explanations. I fully recommend this to people who are interested in the story and hope to discover themselves because this is a series that brings people together.

Before you watch, I have a warning:
You may not be able to hold back your tears. So bring some tissues or something.
