If the art isn't your style, I'd suggest watching the anime then starting off where the anime ends (approx chapter 65) cuz the art improves DRASTICALLY as the manga continues.
The characters are all so lovable, the story is interesting, and the central love story is one of the best I've read. The whole world is so comforting, I was so sad to leave the story behind, but the ending was so good so I can't complain.
Read it, it's mostly sweet romance mixed with funny moments, but also some gut-wrenching emotional parts later on. Love it!
