If you want to see an example of GOOD supporting characters and good friends, read HajiOtsu.
The story itself isn't anything to boast about, but it feels nice to read a manga where the MC has a great pair of friends who aren't just helping him forward but also looking out for him and for each other.
That, coupled with the sweet story and great art will definitely result in a nice read anywhere, anytime. Can't say I will re-read, but can't say I don't want more.
