While magic in nowadays anime has greatly shifted into something that I even do not want to mention, an anime came down on Fall 2017 to bring back magic into its original means. Mahoutsukai no Yome successfully brought back magic into something that logically will coexist with the reality. Well, even if they have to make the second cour feel rushy and left us with so many unexplained situations for those who unfamiliar with European magic lore in the first place.

As I said before, while Mahoutsukai no Yome keeping its track on the lore of magic and wizardly in Europe (England to be precise), this anime has a major flaw in its second cour which made the lore unexplained to many people who did not familiar with the world of European magic. They made the major points of the lore into some kind of no words montages and it made me have to research the real meaning of those montages by myself and I think that's not a good way to keep your audiences. Not all of the audience have the same amount of curiosity like me. The second flaw of its second cour may be the rushy execution just to ended with an equally rushy climax. I think there is so many things to be explored in the second cour : Chise's past and self-conflict, the witches, the college, and of course, Elias' past and origin. With how the second cour ended, I doubt there will be any continuation or any new season to clear things up which made me kinda sad.

Something from Mahoutsukai no Yome that should have been noted is its marvelous soundtrack. The soundtrack of Mahoutsukai no Yome really sticks with its theme and makes it feel like magic. When I listened into one of the tracks in Mahoutsukai no Yome's soundtrack, I closed my eyes and my mind began to wander by itself. It felt like laying on the grass while breezes hits your face and watching air fairies dancing nearby. Yes, magic happened in my head while I listen into those tracks.

While the second cour felt a bit rushy, the first cour liven up magic to its peak and managed to bring back magic into its track. While feel a bit resentful in the second cour, I still really enjoy this anime so much because this anime has made me love magic again. Just remember Elias, Chise is still 16...
