I won't write too much in this review because I really don't think Guilty Crown deserves it. To sum up, we could say that it is a jumble of clichés with a beautiful wrapper, but completely empty inside, with no soul whatsoever. Forgettable to the max. It's one of those animes you just see and after 10 minutes you don't face 99% of the characters. The next day you don't remember exactly how it ended. After a week you don't even remember what the name of the anime was. And almost better, because as I say it has nothing worth taking up valuable space in your memory.
The story is simple and childish. Apart from using elements that have been seen a thousand times before ("Code Geass", "Evangelion") in a blatant way, the depth is completely nil. Yeah, we got the "dumb-ass" hero who suddenly turns into a truly crack and fights all the adversities to be the best, save the world, get the girl... in short, you know, all that clichéd and typical stuff. Worst of all, it is not this insipid and superficial plot, it is that they want to give a feeling of depth in a completely artificial way. To do this they use a horrific montage (although they'll think it's great), with meaningless leaps in time, scenes that remain unexplained and unresolved, forced plot twists that there's nowhere to take them... and through this they try to give the story a complexity that never exists. The only thing they can provoke is yawning everywhere, because the rhythm also leaves a lot to be desired.
As expected, the character section doesn't get much better. Apart from being truly flat for the most part, the evolution they are given is completely nil. Absurd swings of personality as the script requires, without any kind of justification or meaning. This is especially noticeable in the protagonist, who is the one who suffers the most from this fact. Impossible to empathize, impossible to create any connection.
Not everything is horrible at "Guilty Crown", and at least the technical section is good. For example the animation, with interesting character designs and visual effects at a pretty good level. The musical section is also the most outstanding (although it is not very complicated), with varied melodies, even with quite surprising styles such as hip-hop or Spanish guitar scores. Openings and endings have seemed more normal to me. It's not that they're bad, but they're certainly not the kind of songs you get remember or even listen to apart from the episodes.

No quiero extenderme mucho con esta review porque verdaderamente creo que "Guilty Crown" no lo merece. Como resumen se podría decir que es un batiburrillo de clichés con un envoltorio bonito, pero completamente vacío por dentro, sin alma alguna. Olvidable al máximo. Es de esos animes que terminas de ver y a los 10 minutos no le pones cara al 99% de personajes. Al día siguiente no recuerdas exactamente cómo fue el final. A la semana no recuerdas ni cual era el nombre del anime. Y casi mejor, porque como digo no tiene nada por lo que merezca la pena que esté ocupando valioso espacio en tu memoria.
La historia es simplona e infantiloide. Aparte de usar elementos mil veces vistos con anterioridad ("Code Geass", "Evangelion") de forma descarada, la profundidad es completamente nula. Sí, tenemos al héroe "pringao" que de pronto se convierte en la pera limonera y luchará contra todas las adversidades para ser el mejor, salvar el mundo, conseguir a la chica... en fin, ya sabes, todas esas cosas tópicas y típicas. Lo peor de todo no es esta trama insípida y superficial, es que quieren dar una sensación de profundidad de forma completamente artificial. Para ello usan un montaje horroroso (aunque a ellos les parecerá genial), con saltos en el tiempo sin sentido, escenas que quedan sin explicación ni resolución, giros forzados que no hay por dónde cogerlos... y mediante esto intentan dotar a la historia de una complejidad que en ningún momento existe. Lo único que consiguen provocar es bostezos por doquier, porque además el ritmo deja mucho que desear.
Como era de esperar el apartado de personajes no mejora demasiado. Aparte de ser verdaderamente planos en su mayoría, la evolución que les otorgan es completamente nula. Vaivenes absurdos de personalidad según lo requiera el guión, sin ningún tipo de justificación ni sentido. Esto se nota especialmente en el protagonista, que es el que sufre de forma más marcada este hecho. Imposible empatizar, imposible crear conexión alguna.
No todo es horrible en "Guilty Crown" y al menos el apartado técnico cumple. Y digo cumple porque lo hace sin alardes, tampoco es que sea precisamente una maravilla. La animación es buena, con unos diseños de personajes interesantes y unos efectos visuales a bastante buen nivel. El apartado musical es también de lo más destacado (aunque no sea muy complicado), con melodías variadas, incluso con estilos bastante sorprendentes como el hip-hop o punteos de guitarra española. Los openings y los endings sí que me han parecido más normalitos. No es que sean malos, pero desde luego no son de los que se te quedan en la cabeza grabados o incluso los escuchas aparte fuera de los capítulos.
