FLCL (Anime) add (All reviews)
Mar 21, 2018
I am a music enthusiast. While most of you may noticed that I like to praise good soundtracks (if its very good) in almost all of my reviews, the truth is music was the one who brought me into anime. And there is one anime that truly becomes a heaven for a music enthusiast like me. An original anime by GAINAX and Production I.G., Fooly Cooly.

The story of this anime itself actually rooted from a simple thing. Growing up. That's all. But this anime really inspires me because what I got is an advice that while you are still growing up, don't just do nothing with nothing excites you or nothing interesting. You should get out there, do weird things and fry your puberty with them. Technically speaking, I may not a teenager anymore but this anime taught me that I should enjoy my youth while I can. I could see that Haruko's presence were to spice things up while Haruko herself pursuing her own goal. If Haruko had never came to Naota's life, his life maybe ended up "just like that". This anime is full of philosophy that every single person who watch FLCL will interpret this anime differently whether from the story line to the major plot.

The animation of FLCL is worth to talking about. They have this inconsistent drawing style that keeps you in a high tension. They keep changing their style from regular drawing animation into an animated manga and into a freaking South Park. Yes. South Park. Every action scene of FLCL is a very heaven for your eyes and spirit as it keeps your heart burns and don't let that fire go out.

The biggest thing from FLCL of course from its soundtrack. The soundtrack were created by a rather obscure band at that time, The Pillows. Their rocking soundtrack booming across the show making FLCL feels like a huge music video for The Pillows' music. I love to listen every track in this anime and every tracks give this feeling of youth and spirits, making me feel like a teenager again. You could sit all day just to listen into The Pillows music and love them. Whenever I lack of spirit, I just swing by and listen to FLCL's soundtrack. I just really wish they had their tracks in Spotify though.

In the end, if you are a music enthusiast like me, you should, no. You MUST watch this anime and let yourself bask into the music that is The Pillows and the story that is FLCL. This anime became a heaven for a music enthusiast. I just can't wait for the second season to come.
