~~~~~~SPOILER~~~~~~~~
The story was great. There are tons of explanations for the ending. It was destined to be a tragedy, but I hoped it wouldn't. Regardless it still had a sense of a happy ending. They both got some part of their past returned. Swei finally fulfilled a promise, and Ein got to return to her homeland and live the rest of her life with him, albeit a short one. It is my personal opinion that she was shot as well. The whole story is one of redemption, upon leading to ones death. Ein regained her past and finally smiled before she died. Swei fulfilled a promise, and Drei got to reconcile with Swei before their deaths. Even Claudia died after realizing she failed at redeeming her brother. It doesn't make sense to me that the director would punish Ein and Swei for being part of the mob when they didn't have a choice if his/her morale of the story was their is no escaping the underworld. I wish there had been more romantic relationship development between Ein and Swei, but the fact that there wasn't makes me believe the director had a major point he/she wanted to make and chose not to potentially mislead the audience into thinking this was a love story. It seems that he/she was pointing towards how much control we really don't have over our lives, and the many paths they can take us. The countless flashbacks to possible outcomes seems to point towards that. The chance that Swei hadn't missed Drei, or the chance that Swei hadn't decided to visit LA on his vacation. With so many coincidences going on in our world, is it possible to have control over our lives? Do all we have control over is how fast we come to our own predetermined end as Claudia points out? And will we all suffer the same fates of those who willingly participate in the actions we have forced upon us? These are all questions I believe the story poses, and after writing this review I feel they reflect the questions the author answered while writing the story.
