Let's play another game of "You Got It All Wrong," shall we? Well, firstly, this wasn't meant to be compared to other anime. Really, the show has a completely different spirit so shut up. Secondly, it's not a parody. It's more of a fusion of ideas, a loveletter to cartoons in general. This is the fusion of The Powerpuff Girls, Ran and Stimpy, also has the spirit of El Superbeasto and also includes some best parts of anime aside from its aesthetics while avoiding its many cliches. This fusion can also be seen in the OST which is eclectic and fully represents the spirit of this wild anime. Thirdly, the vulgar humor wasn't supposed to be funny EVERYTIME. They use the same method as El Superbeasto, throwing jokes rapidly until one of them hits and hits hard. This wasn't made because the authors are unfunny (the whole anime would suck otherwise) but more because the authors wanted to create that wild, over-the-top atmosphere that the show has. If a joke doesn't hit, it at least feels weird and doesn't annoy you like those cheap comedians on TV. Fourthly, the fanservice is not intrusive and wasn't supposed to grab your attention all the time. It is here because of the characters themselves. Just lay back and don't bother. You won't notice most of it because of the show's pacing. Maybe you'll even feel sad, heheh! Fifthly, the art style is not bad. In fact, it's extremely detailed and beautiful. It just has this PPG style which is completely alien to Gainax anime as much as Gainax style is completely alien to Western cartoons. It's awesome but not everyone will get its beauty. I completely don't get why. Sixthly, no, this Japanese cartoon doesn't suck because it doesn't have a consistent plot. Come on! It's about two wacky sisters going on adventures. This is a SatAM format. It's completely different. It's about watching bizarre, fun stories, not about going through a plot. And seventhly, you mustn't analyze it. This show is all about fun and adventures. So just relax, take it with an open heart. Don't listen to bad reviews. Don't listen to good reviews. You must FEEL this show. You must UNITE with this show. That means, you must experience it by yourself. You see, when you think it's a bad anime, you'll instantly drop it without giving it any chanse. When you think it's a good anime, you'll overhype it and think that it's the most hilarious thing ever yada-yada-yada and find things that aren't really there.
All in all, I think this is a great anime that is just unlike anything else, especially for a man who grew up not on Naruto or Eva but on SpongeBob, Kim Possible, Tom and Jerry and many many other gems. This is my favorite anime but it's probably because a have a soft spot for Western cartoons. I just love 'em and if I see that Japanese try to replicate their fun, wild, imaginative spirit just feels my heart with joy. My words to all haters: give it another chanse. Look at it from another angle. It's not just a bunch of juvenile jokes. It's more of an evolution of Western cartoons that touches the ground no other Western adult cartoon did (except Samurai Jack, of course. Good night, sweet prince). That is merging the fun and imagination of children cartoons with adult themes. Hope my review helped you make your decision whether watch this toon or not and maybe soften your opinion about this TV show.
