Apart from the hordes of Romance and Comedy anime I'm addicted to there's always that one genre I don't watch that much but love unconditionally, that is the Slice of Life genre. Not to mention Shoujo anime. I'm a huge fan of shoujos like Kaichou wa Maid Sama and now Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

Story: 8/10

As if the setting wasn't unique enough, being a slice of life, Gekkan Shoujo didn't have to worry about a proper plot and so we didn't have to either. It just showed us the sweet daily life of Nozaki and Sakura and their group of friends in their daily shenanigans. What was amazing about the story was that it felt familiar yet new at the same time. It went smoothly and although each episode was kind of independent there was a loose roping between episodes to hold the plot. Although in the middle I felt it strayed from Nozaki-kun to Hori San and Kashima, just for a while, thought it bounced back immediately. And did I mention that epic twist the ending was? Watch and you'll find out yourself!

Art: 8/10

This time the faces of the characters were more rounded so it felt new and fun to watch as well. The backgrounds had some impressing detail and complimented the sweet nature of the characters very well. Even in 480p I was in awe at the color and quality of the art style. A huge deal for me, a guy who atm is low on storage. Another thing I liked was how there were some more reactions used for characters (example when an embarrassing ituation happens a drop appears on the head of the characters), now this is obviously ere in almost every anime, but Gekkan Shoujo not only increased this but they made it look better and funnier than usual.

Sound: 7/10

I never expected a shoujo to have such a brilliant and beautiful sound track. The OP perfectly showed the anime's message while the ED was one of the catchiest EDs I've ever heard and I loved listening to it. The BGM (that's background music to those who don't know) was also fun to listen to and contributed to the humor a lot as well. It had it's soft notes and it's upbeat notes and suited Sakura the most in my opinion.

Character: 8/10

As far as I've seen, Shoujo romances have the upper hand in characters and character development so I'm not surprised to admit that Gekkan Shoujo once again had some of the best characters out there. Nozaki, our title character, was dense, but dense in a good way, and it's very tough to explain in writing how that was so, I can only tell you that you will get it once you watch it. In some sort of miracle, his higher than usual denseness made him better as a character. Sakura on the other hand was not only the Moe face of the anime, even her personality had a cute outlook and she developed as well, albiet not as much as you'd expect. I also love how they made Sakura a part of the comedy as well since in many romances I've seen the girls are only used for fanservice-esque comedy (then again, I didn't say ALL), so it was refreshing see Sakura being actively a part of the comedy as well. Huge shout-out to the supporting characters as well, a huge reason I gave it a 10 was because of them as well. Unlike most other romances the supporting cast had their important part to play as well and two of them namely Hori San and Kashima got a lot of screentime as well. Mikorin also got his time to shine. All in all, the characters were what made this anime so amazing.

Enjoyment: 9/10

It was a lot of fun watching Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun. It's soft and pure comedy was just the cherry on top of the excellent slice of life scenarios that were presented. I never once thought I'd love a shoujo anime as much as I loved Kaichou wa Maid Sama or at least this soon. And I was glad to be wrong, as Gekkan Shoujo was one of cutest romances out there. Sakura is the cutest thing alive as well! Being a genre I tend to overlook, Gekkan Shoujo taught me to avoid this habit and pay more attention to more slice of life anime too.

Overall: 8 (Averaged)

I'm totally not surprised I averaged an 8 for this. It's obviously one of the purest and most fun anime out there and I'm sure every Shoujo and slice of life fan will enjoy it like I did. A unique story, lovable characters, brilliant soundtrack, breathtaking art all prove that it totally deserves that score. Definitely must try for everyone and definitely one of my top favourite anime as well!

P.S: I already said this, but Sakura is the cutest thing alive <3
