Just by reading the plot synopsis your hope for a good story should already be crushed. Keep it that way. Most characters are really forced into roles that don't work well, as a result their conversations are all over the place and sometimes funny but more often so disconnected and incoherent it's like they are locked in their own imaginations and talking past each other. The voice acting isn't even good, not because the poor folks doing the voices did a bad job but because many of the voices are so poorly matched with the characters you wonder if there was a shortage of options at the time of the making.
The only enjoyable part about this incoherent bland mess is the art, while the animations are not worth taking an interest in I'm forced to admit the scenes are often lovely. Not overly detailed or outlandish but very fantasy world...ish! Some of the female characters are visually kawaii enough too but their other terrible traits kill that cuteness rather brutally. At the end of the day if all you need are pretty backgrounds and half successful jokes once in a while this anime does the trick, but most viewers could very easily find something else to watch that would suit their tastes better.
