TL;DR This anime is pretty good, but can really seem like some edgy teenager garbage at times, and it isn't as artsy as it wants you to think.

Everything about this anime is pretty great, especially the music, but the one thing that isn't so great is the pacing, and the pacing can really kill the mood of an anime. Art can also be wonky.

An example is how in one episode, the main girl suddenly went into a depression about killing evil spirits after doing it for like literally 5 minutes. There wasn't even an apparently time skip, or her attempt to actually look for civilization and find people, she just decided there weren't people in the world because there was nobody outside past midnight. I understand the whole "There is a theme per episode, and a different sub-plot point per episode" type thing, and I'm going to assume there is also a different director too, but it just doesn't work well enough like that and I would assume that's why this anime has such a low rating on MAL.

Honestly, if this anime took a more Hajime no Ippo approach (boxing anime) where every person he was going to fight was a different mini-arc and there were 2 - 3 episodes revolving around his opponent and how they both train and prepare for the fight, the anime would be amazing. Not only would the anime be just generally better, and pull more of an audience, but episode count would go through the roof and make the anime seem actually interesting to onlookers.

The problem with that is that more production time = more money. They probably had a terrible budget, as noted by the occasional awful art of scenes, particularly of peoples faces.

Here's to hoping they put their candy-crush clone app money into the anime. Still watching it because I can't wait to see what happens to the MC after the main goal is accomplished (waking up the doctor's sister).

The attempts at making the anime seem fresh and original with the weird art and special effects can be really cringe-worthy, because the anime just simply isn't that great when you compare to so many others, but it desperately tries. At least it isn't a typical Isekai like Re:Zero or SAO, so it gets some points there.

Music can be really nice, I especially loved the music at the end of episode 6 (closing music).

Character development is pretty awful but I went into it earlier. It could be cured if the anime simply didn't follow the stupid "theme-per-episode" format, because each part of the dramatic structure just gets rushed when a lot of the parts are supposed to be dragged on to create the effect that they need to impact the viewers.

I enjoy the anime, but I can't help but think and call out all of the flaws whenever I see them. In my experience, most anime don't actually have huge standout flaws aside from boring cliches, be-it characters or episode themes (Like the typical beach episode, pure cancer).

Overall, I think it's worth giving it a watch up to episode 6. I think I might drop it sooner or later if the next episode isn't absolutely mind-blowingly amazing, because every episode just seems sub-par. The only episode that I thought was really well done was the one with the young girl who got that crazy illness. It pissed me off that she died, because she was the only interesting character that had real development and that was the only episode with good pacing. It also had a pretty amazing plot-twisty thing, the climax and falling action was really great and made me happy. All in all, that episode was a solid 9/10, which is why I'm hoping another one comes along.
