this review will have two different sides, which are my first attempt when it first aired and due to my inability to finish it (i started focusing on light novels and sort of dropped anime) i never got round to finishing it, so few weeks ago i started watching anime again and it has been in my watch list for ages and i thought why not. (there will be short summary in the last paragraph)

first impression: when it first started out, it appealed to me a lot, i mean military and isekai genre combined with an mc that isnt a 16 year old moron, so you could say that during my first attempt i loved it and would have likely given it an overall 7 or 8 out of 10 just because it seemed different and intriguing including the other world harem members (including the war god priestess with the scythe (if you know what i mean, lol jokes) but over all the characters at the time seemed really interesting to me that recently i decided why resume where i left of, since i enjoyed it back than let me rewatch it so i did... so for my initial impression of the 9 episodes i watched it would have been 7 or 8 out of 10.

2nd attempt (may seem like a rant): over nationalistic and retardation on behalf of the author that seemed to forget the crimes that japan has committed in WW2 or perhaps he has been proud to of those events or perhaps ignored them and thought that the Japanese miltary was the most righteous existence in the world.

Lets get this straight japan was attacked so on their territory it was their right to defend themselves, i dont have an issue with that and the fact that when they went to the other world they built the defenses around the gate from further attacks by the primitive humans of that world along with monsters that isekai genre usually have. However the fact that instead of trying to negotiate with the humans that tried attacking them they just went and exterminated them with their fancy weapons? why those armies never posed a threat to them sending a military unit to negotiate with the army and the nations of this world would have been more beneficial and prevented useless slaughter in the overall picture but no.

okay further down the line a civil war like event happens so the military once again shows of their power by exterminating the insurgents why? they could have just evacuated the civilians or negotiated an end to the battle and pointless slaughter but what they did is bring few dozen helicopters and start murdering more humans that never ever posed a threat to them just for what to show off that they could deal huge number of damage?? they could have done that during the military assault in the second episode.

than it turns that the japanese army that should only exist for national protection is more skillful than black ops from the strongest millitary nations of the world... see the picture Japan is the best the japanese military is in the right even if they pointlessly slaughter humans from a very ancient like civilisation.

End of Rant! (story 2/10)

Character: at first they seemed interesting but after their initial introduction they grew stale and cliche to the point that probably only Rory could interest most watcher (wink wink) but that would be only because she would only serve for fan service and distraction of the stupidity of the author.
score: 3.5 but i will be lenient and give it a 4 just because they seemed interesting as they got introduced and some of their impression did seem okay...

Art: brilliant so 8/10 along with good animation.
Sound: was there any sound? i will just give it a 5/10
enjoyment: first time around around 7.7 (8) out of ten, second time 3.4/10 (3)
overall for the first impression it would have been (8) second (4/10)

if you dont think much when watching anime than you will enjoy it likely otherwise it will be dreadful to you.

(summary: over nationalistic bullcrap and a moronic author that likely was proud of the crimes committed by japanese military or never even knew of them and it probably seemed cool to him to mindlessly slaughter people that never posed a threat to jsdf in the isekai world.)
