I got into the Haruhi Suzumiya franchise by watching a negative video review, and I love this show. It's quite a creative idea.

After the somewhat disappointing second season, with the Endless Eight saga in which the same plot was reshown for eight episodes, and the last five being dedicated to a single episode shown in the first season, I hoped the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya would be rewarding - and I wasn't disappointed.

I like the idea of alternate worlds and other animes like the Fullmetal Alchemist movie used that as its main setting, and it worked pretty well in the anime's own setting. Having a human Nagato and a more nicer Haruhi onscreen was quite appealing, as you often find stuff like that in fanfiction. The downplaying of Mikuru's involvement in the alternate world was disappointing and while Kyon develops relationships with the altered Haruhi, Koizumi and Nagato, he does not do the same with Mikuru. In regards to Nagato as a human was a fun and interesting plot point, and literally boosted that Kyon and Nagato romance pairing by miles.

The hint that Koizumi had a thing for Haruhi was a nice touch but it could have been looked upon more. The best bit of acting in the film came when Haruhi found out who Kyon was, and she seemed more down-to-earth that the true version of Haruhi.

On bad parts, the return of Ryoko Asakura was a bit confusing, and I think more time should've been spent in the alternate world instead of running around back in time to deal with problems.
