Gantz (Manga) add (All reviews)
May 17, 2017
Years back I'd always seen Gantz in bookstores but due to it's mature rating they were usually wrapped up in plastic so nobody could read them. Now and then you could've found a loose copy but for the most part this manga was pretty inaccessible unless you were willing to fork out the cash (and were of age).

Fast forward many years and there is now a CGI film, Gantz: O, on Netflix. Vaguely remembering about that restricted manga wrapped up in plastic I decided to check it out. Man. Was I blown away. I immediately looked up the manga and binge read it through the course of 2 days.

My final thoughts. I loved this manga. It's non-stop entertainment. For those of you who love sci-fi, gladiator-like battles, and bleak helpless scenarios where main and supporting characters actually die, this one is for you. At times gave me a strong "Berserk" feel with the main characters taking on gigantic/powerful foes many times their sizes and strength, struggling for survival and earning victory against the odds.

My only qualm would be the ending arc, felt a bit rushed and left me wanting some more. Regardless, the concept behind the story of this manga is unique and cool/stylish, hopefully we'll get more expanded works into the Gantz universe soon.
