Skip beat is an interesting shojo anime about a young plain girl named kyoko. She lives the simple life of a high school drop out, working at what essentially amounts to a McDonalds and living in a small apartment. The one main drive in her life is her, idol, her beloved Sho, the man of her dreams who carried her from her home to live with him. Sho treats Kyoko like dirt, and Kyoko simply enjoys being within the same room as him... That is until she finds him cheating on her with his manager. Kyoko is furious and confronts Sho, only to be told that she was a stepping stone in his career to further gain his own goals. Kyoko then does something different, she doesn't walk away silently, or break into tears. No, she turns into Satan himself, and swears absolute vengeance on the tard Shotaro.

Thus the adventure begins for Kyoko to become a better starlet than Sho could ever be. Now overall the story while being fairly originial and told very well, is overall pretty simple... a girls struggle to be the best form a very meager start. The art and music are also above average, but for the most part nothing spectacular. What makes this show stand out more than any other show is the main character herself, kyoko. So much effort is put into the series to show off Kyoko's very VERY unstable emotions as she varies from evil to happy to depression all within the blink of an eye. While the change in mood is sudden and unpredictable you can't help but laugh every time Kyoko has a argument with herself, to the disbelief of passers by.

Overall the show is pretty good, and would be worth watching even if Kyoko wasn't the main focus, but it is Kyoko's outstanding character that really sets this show aside from any other anime.
