I finished Nagi no Asukara with tons of different emotions. I loved Nagi no Asukara deep down but when I looked back on the series I couldn't understand why. It was no doubt one of the best anime's i've ever had the pleasure of watching. But it also had some huge flaws in the first season.

The second season was great, we got to see these characters develop and get closer to one another. (It's also when most of the Internets ships sank faster than a brick thrown into the water.) The plot in the second season was decent but what really sold it to me was how the characters from the first season were receiving more attention in terms of development. This time around it didn't simply focus on Manaka, Chisaki and Hikari. Every character really got their turn in the spotlight. Somehow, it even made me like my least favorite character from season one, Tsumugu an enjoyable character. Even though I hated him in the first season, I ended up liking Tsumugu's character allot more by the end of season 2. This was because of the amount of time they put into him in season 2 compared to season 1. In season 1 he seemed more like a stuck-up guy who really didn't seem to get was going on. But in season 2 he showed us that he's not just a shy, stuck-up guy who manages to get all of the ladies attention by doing nothing.

The first season was weird, I enjoyed but I also didn't like it. Things started off slow but progressively it got a little faster. The plot was REALLY boring for the first few episodes, I honestly wanted to drop the series right than and there. However I stuck it out and it started to get better. However through the last few episodes the plot went WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY to fast and it ended up being really confusing and caused me to take a few minutes after each episode to try and comprehend everything... It wasn't necessarily a hard anime to follow but it did get a little clustered in the last few episodes of season 1, it felt like they were trying to cram to much into the last few episodes...

The first season is really not all the exciting in my opinion, however it remains an AMAZING anime due to the second season. I'm not saying that the first season is bad, I really enjoyed it however, due it's weird pacing, it just ruined the entire season for me. If it wasn't for the first season, Nagi no Asukara could have easily been a 5 star anime for me.
