I'm a fan of harem ecchi comedy anime since I watched Highschool DxD and I was looking up for a show like it, as H DxD was perfect for me and thats why HxH in the name caught my attention. Althought it feel like this show is a mix of few harem animes like Infinite Stratos, DxD or Maou no Testament and don't really feel too original. I kept watching it as I thought that it have potential to get better, and episodes 7,8, 11 and 12 confirmed it for me, it even had a quite interesting cliff hanger at the end. But throught the show enjoyment of watching it was having its ups and downs.
The idea of destroyed world, conquered by an alien invader, and the last standing girls soldiers fighting by using armors, powered by forbidden love of the only male soldier, did sound interesting. But the characters, althought each had unique personality, were too annoying for me with not a really good characters development. I was looking for either comedy or really dramatic moments in the series to make it somehow more memorising and interesting, but the dialogues, motives and interaction between characters were rather shallow. The protagonist wasn't really charismatic, and that's what a real HAREM KING should be (learn from Issei Hyoudou, Kizuna Hida!). Art and animation were on a good level and opening was pleasant to the ear, but it didn't really have an OST that I would be listening to in my free time just for a pleasure like I do with ones from some series. When the season 2 comes out I will check the first episode if it will keep the level of the last episode, but I don't have too much expectations for this series.
