Kill La Kill is wonderful. I wouldn't say shows should try to copy the way the show handled fan service. It works in this case because it built its entire story and some of its themes around the fan service. The story is well built, but it's also ridiculous and the kind of over the top story I look for in anime. The art is wonderfully exaggerated and helps the tone of the show, particularly in comedic moments. The show's characters are colorful and work wonderfully with the themes. The main problem I have with the characters is Mako's family. They're wonderful hosts in terms of food, shelter and a bed, but they're a little too perverted for my tastes. That may seem like a weird criticism for this show, but I feel like it would've done more for the show if these characters in particular did more for the themes than just being a bunch of perverted assholes. There is a little bit more, but nothing that Mako herself doesn't already accomplish. Overall though, it's a fantastic show I can recommend to anyone whose interest was piqued by the plot summary.
