The second season of "Ookami to Koushinryou" picks up exactly where the first season left off. The two seasons share the same strengths and weaknesses, so your enjoyment of this season should match how well you liked the previous one! I gave season 2 a lower score because they should have attempted more with these 13 episodes, rather than double down on their previous formulae.

Story [6/10]: Spice and Wolf season 2 continues in the same vein as before, with Holo the wolf deity traveling towards her ancient home up north. Again there are two major plot arcs, with adventures in different towns, though this time there is less action and more drama.

Pacing [5/10]: By replacing action with more financial maneuvering, Spice and Wolf loses momentum and is forced to make up for lost time at the end. The denouement is rushed, with a complete shift in focus to give some sense of closure although nothing practically changes.

Art [9/10]: As before, the artwork is stellar!

Sound [10/10]: Again and again, slow and frustrating scenes in Spice and Wolf are saved by its soundtrack. It would not be much exaggeration to say that its music raised the series out of mediocrity.

Character [6/10]: With a greater focus on drama, you might think that season 2 would be more have more character/relationship development. This is not the case; in fact, I would argue that our two protagonists remain largely stagnant within these 13 episodes. Fortunately, they are likable and well-textured enough to hold their own.

Enjoyment [7/10]: Going into this season, I had hoped for more than just variations of the story arcs of season 1. It was still enjoyable and offers an ending of sorts (with no third season in sight, it will have to do), so I would still recommend seeing it to the finish!

Overall: [7/10]
