After numerous requests from the worst fanboys, I decided to give a chance to this series because of the interesting plot and character's desing.

From this point of view the anime is well done, with a cast characterized and stylish but that, at least according to my personal point of view, errs in the evolution, especially for secondary elements, and makes it less convincing and addictive . Another major flaw worth mentioning is the presence of too many unnecessary episodes also in the final parts of the plot, in which it would be right and lawful push a little 'more on the accelerator to entice the viewer and immerse completely in the events, finishing for get bored and wonder why it was given so much space to this kind of episodes, even considering the nature of these anime, the black comedy. Closing the topic on episodes’ management, I want to further criticize the decision to exclude the narrative arcs that in the plot could do good, and then make room for boredom masterpieces like the one dedicated to the Indian Butler and Prince Soma, which excluding the culinary challenge vaguely reminiscent of Food Wars, it is useless and somewhat avoidable.

Speaking of the plot, however, we are facing a well written story with a very original underlying idea, that every time brings our beloved characters to shed light on court’s mysteries and solve cases like real investigators. If this anime’s part captures the attention and leads to continuing the vision to find the culprit and the motive of the crime, the continual solving these misdeeds blocks the flow of the real plot, which leads to a villain’s presentation in the anime’s closing stages and a hasty unfolding of events, that does not help in the rating.

On the technical side, anyway, there are respectable animations with appreciable drawings, both for the author's obvious personality that shines through in every lineament, but also for the originality that nowadays is hard to find.

Honorable mention for the ending and the final episode itself, which concludes perfectly the first season of Kuroshitsuji, offering striking and exciting scenes that I liked a lot. In the general despair and chaos within London, we see Ciel increasingly determined to implement his revenge, even when all is lost and nothing remains, driven by hatred and frustration, the main themes of this anime. The Earl and the butler Sebastian’s final stages are also beautiful, that contributes to strengthen the bond of friendship between them, gaining in characterization and character development, and giving an unique touch of class with deep reflections and very significant scenes.

Finally, arguing on the setting, I cannot avoid showing me pleased and surprised with this Gothic style, that I love in all its gorges, and a realistic and commendable Victorian London’s scenario, really proving the main advantage of this anime. Continuing the discourse on the artistic side, this anime also affects for the care given in the soundtrack with a fantastic opening and, albeit with a first undertone ending, a really magnificent and full of atmosphere closing song (Lacrimosa),that can not be skipped.

Summing up, Kuroshitsuji is an anime that I would highly recommend to all of those who love black comedies and those who want to approach something that stands out from the crowd for its originality and personality, detectable in the character’s design and in the magnificent gothic environments that are the anime’s main dishes.
