I'll be doing this new form of reviews instead of segmented ones.

Ah feels good to write reviews again. After I went trough a dozen of animes, which had nothin' to write home about, this gem popped up. Well not as much popped as recommended by a friend. It is not 'til I saw couple of episodes that I've noticed the gem was made out of plastic and food coloring.
Now that intro might've made you think I despise this anime and you'd be wrong to think so you silly slacker. I most certainly don't understand the appeal of ecchi animes but I guess some people just really like being blue balled for twenty minutes. Maybe it's a Japanese thing, maybe you need samurais and two nukes in your country's history to understand the appeal of it. Anyhow B Gata H Kei is a story about a fifteen year old girl who wants to shag a hundred guys during her time in highschool,I guess story goes for the realistic portrayal of fifteen year old girls. This does not mean she wants to do 'em in highschool, tho that would certainly liven up history lessons. The problem with this story is that it quickly turns into a generic romance. It checks couple of cliches during it's run. There's also a tsundere aspect to the female lead. Despite her being so keen to nom on some German sausage she gets extremely shy when it comes to instigating it with male lead. Speaking of him he'd probably be a background character in any other anime considering his lack of personality traits, wait actually that'd put him as a protagonist of a shounen all he needs is to shoot lasers. He's shy of course but it doesn't help much that female lead behaves like she's on a constant sugar rush. Whenever she talks to him it ends up as incoherent yelling. In couple of cases she berates him for being too slow with groping her tits. Yes you heard me well there's tiddies in here so if that's nuff for ya you can just stop readin'. In truth when they are closest to sex is when anime is the best. See this anime sells itself as a comedy but humor is pretty repetitive and generic. ,,Look at this pretentious asshole over here'', the villagers yell, ,,are titty jokes not good enough for you?''. Nope I've laughed at quite a number of titties in my life and problems aren't what they are joking about. Indeed jokes would be funny if comedic timing and execution weren't so bad, also I would be a good person if not for my apathy and disdain for humankind. But again during near sex scenes humor goes up with some interesting imagery, wink wink nudge nudge. Overall humor is hit and miss, more miss than hit. It is also a romance,as you might've assumed, and it fares better in that department. Even though it contains a number of cliches, like male lead having a childhood friend that likes him and there being a girl who likes her older brother, it's certainly better than many others and I'll tell you why in a jiffy. See in the beginning female lead is only after male one cause she wants her first time to be with a virgin. However trough these twelve episodes she starts liking him for what he is, more or less. The thing tho is that characters in this anime are pretty eh. Eh in a manner that most of them don't partake much in anything. They all have one joke tied to them. For example there's a short, flat chested girl who wants to have a boyfriend really bad but nobody wants to date her and there's a classic clumsy girl who apologises a lot. Art is good. It's not too plain as some other things I've reviewed so I gotta pet it for that. Sound is basic and that opening makes me nauseous.
Enjoyment is certainly present in this claptrap tho if you've already seen a decent amount of shoujo animes, which to a normal human being is below two, you won't find much new. I'd like to note tho that this is not what I consider good. Writing overall was pretty poor and seemed to repeat itself a lot. It still has that stinky air of by the book anime intersected with couple of lines that diverge from the norm. There's not a point where I felt engaged with the story to the point I actually focused on the screen. Better luck next time whoever wrote this.
