Don't let the piano violin theme discourage you. I can guarantee this anime will make you feel moved one way or another.
Things I Liked:
- Originality.
- The art was great, better than most.
- Ironically, i loved the music that didn't revolve around the piano. The openings, endings and general soundtrack.
- The first piano violin solo really revs up the engines.
Things I didn't like:
- The lack of settings. I feel like 2/5 of the story took place in a piano/violin competition, 2/5 at school or in a hospital and 1/5 in a house with a piano.
- Reoccurring competitions. Imagine watching someone play then piano for the millionth time followed by the same or similar flashbacks. They're trying too hard make the audience feel something.
- Piano solos consisting of only classical music.
- One of the supporting characters has no purpose in the story besides being a love rival and providing roughly two scenes of actual support.
- Despite their mature looking character designs they are only in middle school.
