Wolf Children follows the story of Hana, a relatively shy and emotion-driven person who falls for a wolf. Some people might watch it for that alone, but there's more to it. The music, for one, which is vocal heavy and extremely memorable. There are also some incredibly beautiful scenes that have a 'call of the wild' feel to them that are worth getting to.

The overall story is what prevented Wolf Children from being a top tier anime film from my POV. A number of side plots seemed to have been abandoned throughout the second half of the movie, and the apex of the movie felt a bit awkward for reasons that you'll see if/when you watch it. Character development was split between the three family members (primarily the children) so it pretty much had to be shallow, but it wasn't poorly done.

So in conclusion, Wolf Children is a good run that you should at least check out even if you're not typically interested in this genre. You'll probably find some flaws, but it's unlikely that you'll regret spending your time on it.
