Just a short review, I've just finished the last episode of Re:Zero and wow it's been a while ride.

I remember saying to my friend after finishing part A of the first episode: "it was just another really stereotypical fantasy anime"

Boy I was wrong.

I'm so glad I got back into watching it during a lazy day, and I haven't missed a week since. Please note that my scores are purely subjective and my own opinion.

Story: (9/10)

I remember reading the synopsis and thinking "if they execute it the right way, this can either turn out to be one of the greatest anime I'll ever watch. Or one of the the worst," and I'm glad it's the former. I found that the author brilliantly executed the "mechanic" of Return by Death (noteably in several episodes), and made it very suspenseful and interesting for me to watch every week. (Other people who've seen more "time-travel" anime might disagree, but to each their own)

Art: (7/10)

Honestly the art was pretty decent, some scenes were genuinely great, but I think I'll need to rewatch it with a focus on the art if I'm to do further commenting on this.

Sound: (9/10)

Just listen to it man.

Character: (8/10)

Honestly I really want to give this a 9, seeing Subaru grow each week really was an enjoyable and interesting experience for me. But unfortunately because of the way the plot works, it's almost as if though the ONLY character we've seen grow is Subaru. Which is why I'm quite reluctant to give it a 9. But overall, whilst Subaru will make some very frustrating decisions I found him to be a great MC.

Enjoyment: (10/10)

What will I spend my Sundays doing now.

Overall:

Honestly I'd give Re:Zero around a 8.87 or 8.9 out of 10, I think that in some ways I enjoyed it more than FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Although I really haven't seen the whole story (since it isn't out yet) for me to decide which is better, I'm going to slightly reluctantly say that it's at least on equal footing with FMA, if not a close second or alightly ahead (depending on how it goes).
