This manga took me by surprise. I was expecting a typical shoujo romance manga but instead was pleasantly surprised by the plot, art style and COMEDY. Believe me, this manga will not disappoint in the comedy department, you will find yourself cracking up at various parts.
From the beginning it had a funny set up. A 16 yo high school girl fills in for her older sister in meeting a 26 year old for a "MIAI" which is like two people meeting up for a possible marriage match. From the beginning the two main characters have an interesting meeting and from that very first incident up until the current volume, the banter between these two has continued and has actually remained funny.
The female lead is pretty awesome, she does not fit into the typical female shoujo character of being shy , timid and being dominated by the man. This girl will go tit for tat with this guy and her witty remarks are at times so unmatched in the funniest ways! lol (I am laughing just thinking about some of the scenes). The guy is also pretty unique, he comes off to be really full of himself but as the story progresses you can see that he has more to him than what is initially shown, plus no matter how cocky or arrogant he tries to be, it won't work because he has finally met his match!
I also like how they have progressed the relationship between these two in a more realistic manner than most mangas in this genre. They don't just jump into falling in love. The author takes time to really layer and nurture their connection throughout the chapters, which I think will make for a pretty satisfying connection in the end.
The art took some getting used to for me, at first there was just so much going on, but after a few chapters you can adapt pretty well and it becomes easier to follow along. The facial expressions were some of my favorite, they are so funny and I loved it!
I am not sure where the story will go as of yet because it is still ongoing, but if I had to pick one thing I would like to see in the coming chapters, It would be to dive into the major dilemma between these to which is the age difference. The last chapter explores that a bit; however, since this is primarily a comedic shoujo manga, most of it tends to be pretty light and fun, so I think it will be a good balance to explore those elements in a more serious and conflicted manner to really draw the reader in.
I was not expecting to give it such a high score, but I think it deserves it. I would definitely recommend reading this one. I look forward to seeing where the story goes and get ready for some laughs! :)
