Preliminary (36/47 eps)
Here is how I'll review this anime. I'll be splitting it into two sections.

1st section is everything before the Kalos League. Everything before the Kalos league is basically amazing, the art style, the animation, the music, all of it is great.

The story is enjoyable and the side story going on with Alan is also enjoyable. I can see why many people would want Alan as the new protagonist.

Pokemon battles are amazing, the best of the series so far, with the camera work and animations being top notch. There's less bull too like Pikachu destroying ground types in the past and Ash gets more creative with his tactics. This Ash also has one of the best rosters for his 6 Pokemon excluding perhaps Goodra.

Then we get to the Kalos League. I won't spoil it. But basically, shit hits the fan the second we enter the finals, and this anime goes downhill really fast. Really fast.

This anime basically got picked up the writers of the previous Pokemon series, and you all know how those series end. Instead of this one, where we finally see an Ash with amazing character development and skills, we end up once again with an Ash that just doesn't make the cut and is once again boring and fated to end up in a brand new season of Pokemon Sun and Moon.

I GUESS he can win the Island Challenges. Honestly, the writers of this anime are basically just memeing really hard right now and Ash is fated to only be able to win Island Challenges like the Orange Islands and the Alola Island Challenges.

So... In conclusion. Watch this anime until the final match of the Kalos league. It'll be 9-10 then. Then stop watching and imagine it gets left on a cliffhanger or imagine the rest of it for yourself. You'll be doing a better job than the plot directors and writers. Anime is basically a 2-4/10 at the end of the Kalos league.
