One Piece is different from other long running shounen series because while other series degraded in quality towards their end One Piece even though has a episode count of 756 hasnt even a bit in infact it just keeps on getting better
Story- The strong points of One piece is its story on the surface its basically of Luffy wanting to become the pirate king but if you actually watch it then the richness of the story will come out each island in one piece has its own story each arc is important in one piece while after the time skip the pacing has kinda slowed down specially during dressrosa but One Piece is best watched while Marathoning the series.
Characters- Like islands each character is important in the overall story of one piece not only the Sh but marines the younkou the worst generation.
Luffy- He sometimes comes out like another of those shounen cliche heroes but he never lets his crewmates or anyone he cares about be in danger and manytimes while other pirate captains wouldn't give a damn about the island internal conflicts Luffy will always guarantee that he will beat the main villains ass
Villians- Now the villains of One piece are like no other each have a reason why they became evil and many times you sympathise with them giving them a whole other dimension which is almost absent in other shonen series
Art- Now this is controversial post timeskip yes the art has been iffy but that occurs only sometimes the art while not the best i think is still watchable and sometimes episodes are brilliantly animated too
So overall One piece i think if you watch it you will fall in love it and will look forward to sundays
