Durarara!! Had very few sappy moments, or lengthy pointless monologues. If it's action, the supernatural, exploring relationships of love and friendship, and city life perspective you're after, this anime will not disappoint you. It also manages to balance quite perfectly between humour and more mature subject matters, which makes it even more appealing.
The only problem I have with Durarara!! is that the anime has the potential to be darker, and I really wish it was.
