Haikyuu!! is a show full of jokes, crazy characters, pumping the viewers up with the emotions of excitement. However, this little review will focus on how successful the show is at getting the viewers to sympathize with the characters.

I absolutely adore this anime and one of the many reasons why I kept coming back to watch it is because of the way the story was told. The story isn't complex but rather very "humble" and "human", which in my opinion is what makes it great.

Haikyuu!! is (obviously) about volleyball, but what made it interesting is the fact that I got to see it from many different points of views be it from a spiker, a libero, a new player, etc. For example, I got to see what it feels like to be a coach, someone who, in the past, knows how it feels like to be a player on the court. The show got me to realize how much pressure they're in when they have to pick the right players and to not be distracted by pity or sympathy, but rather to focus on "what's best for the team."

Since the story follows Karasuno's team, all of the opposing teams can easily be seen as enemies. However, Haikyuu!! often reveals every team's back story, giving insights to their life which acts as a reminder that they're human, that they're more than just opponents; they, too, work and practice daily to get to where they are. I especially liked the episodes that were done in tribute to the teams that lost in the first day of Inter-High; they felt regret, sad and weak. The idea of, "oh, it's already over?" comes into play. The many hours of practice they've done, the many hours of pushing their bodies to the limit and aching only to lose on the very first day and to be done for the rest of the season. It's very hard to look down on them because, even though their amount of passion and dedication isn't as much as other teams, in the end, they got to play the sport that they like.

Overall, more than just the teamwork, more than just the hype of playing the game, Haikyuu!! tells of something with much more meaning.
