And now I will elaborate on my opinion.
It would be most beneficial to start with the story, for which I gave 4/10: that`s a light novel adaptation, my man, no one comes for these shows for the story! Now, it doesnt mean its a bad show, of course not. It just simply means the story is practically non-existent. Just a rather recycled, mediocre story, not necessary bad, but nothing new.
I will skip now other areas, and talk about characters (I will come back for the other things tho). Its a fair 5.5/10, as, again, thats a light novel adaptation, dont expect intriguing characters with amazing development. Now, again, that doesnt mean there is none of that. The protagonist is of some interest, some other characters do develop well. The only problem is that we all seen these characters quite a number of times in a hundred of different animes. Thats why I gave it a 5.5; its not as bad as a 5/10, but its not as good as 6/10.
Now the praising parts: the art was generally really good, a low 8/10, only because most of the art potential went into the 11th episode and Ikkis fights, but oh my they were well made. Not going to spoil anything at all here, but the creators nailed the atmosphere.
Sound is just good, solid 6/10. Of all the different areas of criticism, I am most poor when writing about sound. It was just good, nothing more, nothing less.
Now, enjoyment. 7/10
I generally enjoyed the anime. There were a bunch of great things in it, especially the romance, it was surprisingly well made. The fights were pretty solid, the otherall premise was also good. Special mentions to ep8, which really did make this series a 7/10 for me. And the finale of the season is also worth mentioning.
And so, overall. At first, after I watched it, I actually wanted to give it a low 7 right away. There were lots of things, which really made this anime stand out from all the other light novel adaptations and generic shows. It was simply good. I do take some time, however, to reflect on the show, and thus later brought my grade down to a 6. This brought the same problem, which I had with characters. The anime is definitely better, than 6, but its hard to call it a 7. And so after a couple of months, I went back to it, and rewatched some moments from it. And, oh man, I did have quite some fun. Again, the episode 8 is great, it is just great, loved it.
And, thus, as I actually enjoyed coming back to it, I decided that this show does worth its 7. It was worth watching, and its not long at all, so if you got some free time, and wanna watch something slightly cliche, slightly not cliche at all, and something generally enjoyable, think of giving it a go. Though, its more like a 6.75/10, haha.
