As someone who hasn't played the game, I don't know if the anime follows the game exactly. Though after watching this, I am heavily considering buying the game. I liked this anime, it had a good combination of action and backstory. If you like RWBY or Attack on Titan and are looking for something similar, I'd say you should watch this too. Honestly, the setting-mankind trapped behind walls, is exactly like Attack on Titan, which bothered me a lot. The action scenes seemed a bit ridiculous, but it did take the characters massive effort to kill a stadium sized monster/Aragami. The 3D art style bothered me at first, but I admit it was very different, and not in a bad way either. Character wise, the impractical wardrobe of the characters definitely screamed RWBY to me. The characters personality wise, were generally hit or miss. Some seemed generic, your badass commander, your scaredy-cat, and your try-hard. But as time went on, not all of them were as generic as they initially seemed. However, most characters did not have much depth. Overall, I enjoyed this anime and am hoping for another season. I may even decide to take a look at the game.
