This anime was such a joy to watch. The characters were so unique and interesting. Each one having their own unique little quirks. They felt so real like the ladies’ man who has no real experience with women, the pretty boy princess? The crazy girl with the voice of an angel? Yup, totally normal characters in anime.

This is a simple slice of life, shojo, romance anime that doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you want something light hearted and goofy than this is the anime for you. Sometimes the best stories are the simple ones.

The story is driven by its diverse casts of characters and Nozaki’s job of being a professional mangaka. He doesn’t need to hire assistance, he just drags his friends along to help him.

Your first introduced to Chiyo Sakura, an ordinary high school girl trying to confess to her crush, it somehow turns into her becoming a mangaka’s assistant. From there, Chiyo is introduced to a whole cast of other characters and as the story progresses each characters own personal relationships are developed in extremely goofy ways.

There are three main pairings in the series, each more interesting than the last.

I have come across many series and one of the biggest complaints I hear is that the female protagonist is really whiny and such a cry baby. I never have a problem with characters like that but I can relate to these characters. Chiyo is different, she is not an adoring fan of the guy she likes, as she has realistic expectations from him but still loves him for who he is. At the same time being like any other girl in love and getting nervous and anxious when she is with him. A totally relatable kind of girl.

She isn’t the overly emotional type, if anything she is a calming factor in the show as a counter balance to the extreme personalities of some of these characters.

One really stunning aspect of this anime is the art and animation of this only 12 episode anime. It makes long running series look pathetic compared to its crisp and clean design with beautiful snapshots of the background and surrounding area.

Another thing I adore is how simple the stories are, they can make an episode simply on the best way to walk home together with a bike, or what’s the best way to give a person an umbrella all for Nozaki’s manga research.

Who would have thought that a story about a guy creating manga could be so interesting :D
