Haikyuu!! is about volleyball, plain and simple. I for one have never been into volleyball and despite not being a fan of the sport, I decided to watch this series. And in all honesty, it doesn't matter if you love or hate volleyball, the series itself is so fantastic and exhilarating. Each episode left me eager to watch the next and it made me wish I played volleyball in my youth.

The story follows Shoyo Hinata, during junior high he suddenly falls in love with volleyball and it becomes his whole life. He tries to form a club during junior high but cannot find the members until his last year where he competes in a tournament and gets dominated by "The King of the Court" Tobio Kageyama. Vowing to surpass Kageyama and beat him the next time they meet, he joins Karasuno High School's volleyball club only to find out that Kageyama is now his teammate. What follows is an amazing story where Hinata and Kageyama must work together to become Karasuno's most powerful duo.

Along with Hinata and Kageyama there is also Daichi Sawamura, the teams captain, Koshi Sugawara, the team's veteran setter, Asahi Azumane, the team's ace and Yu Nishinoya, the team's libero. Each character has an undying passion for volleyball and wants to win more than anything. Each character must also deal with challenges on their way to victory. Hinata must get over his fear of losing and stop being intimidated by the much taller opponents, Kageyama must learn to rely on his teammates and understand that he cannot win on his own, Sugawara deals with being replaced by Kageyama as the teams starting setter and Asahi must overcome his own guilt when he believes he's let his team down. My favorite character is Nishinoya, he's entertaining, exciting and a complete badass on the court.

Each episode is filled with excitement and suspense. Each episode left me eager to watch the next. This series made volleyball seem so awesome and fun to play. The character's passion for the sport made it that much more exciting and emotional to watch. Many episodes deal with the amazing feeling to win but also how hard it is to lose which will leave you smiling and tearing up throughout. The music in particular got me pumped for each episode especially the first opening theme.

It is a great series and I enjoyed each and every episode of it. One thing I did really like as well is that plot points developed over a few episodes and didn't just appear out of nowhere. Even if you aren't a volleyball fan before this series, like me, it will leave you wanting to see more. The storytelling and watching the characters play is some of the most exhilarating stuff to see and I could honestly get into volleyball after watching this. The Rio 2016 Olympics have started when I finished this series and volleyball is actually one of the events I'm most excited to watch because of Haikyuu. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
