My experience with anime in general so far is fairly limited, which I think is part of what made this anime's brand of meta humor especially effective for me. It plays on tropes that are common throughout all media and in doing so emphasizes the actual, hilarious, implications of certain character archetypes.

In essence, the anime takes what in other contexts might be considered one-sided characters and develops them through arcs that maintain the underlying characteristics. The most prominent of these changes is in how they interact with one another as they increasingly understand and accept their shortcomings.

The humor is uninterrupted, drawing on interesting situations and interactions. Many of the main characters take on tropes normally associated with secondary characters, precisely because those tropes are not too well thought out, so when the anime takes them to their logical conclusions, they create interesting situations. Many of the situations, some of which were set up over the course of much of an episode, completely made sense within the contexts all of the characters. However, due to being extremely generic, situations that typically act as backdrops, the subversions were great, made sense, but unpredictable.

Overall, everything about this show is very memorable. It is hard to fault the story-line for being, at its core, pretty trope loaded, since many of those tropes were reinterpreted in ways that suited the characters. Looking back, it is impressive how well-structured it was with all the arcs, flowing smoothly. This is a unique character-driven meta comedy that will be memorable to most.
