Preliminary (5/10 eps)
Here I am gonna give some of my thoughts about Kyousou Giga, even though I have not finished it yet. I have a personal experience with this anime, knowing it from its 2011's pilot, which is only a 20 minutes animation... but I still cannot tell why I could remember it so well, even 5 years after watching it : the characters, the artstyle, the setting (the "mirror capital", its weird wood tower at the center, etc.)... everything was taken me aback while watching the very first episode of the TV adaptation. This is even more surprising, considering the fact that I often forget everything about an anime, like 2 days after watching it.
Kyousou Giga is somehow very original in the way it delivers its story : there is a succession of scenes that are taking place in the past and of scenes that are taking place in the present, and Kyousou Giga does a good job linking these two time. Also, a lot of things are told though pure visual narration, and that's a relief because I consider there's not need to explain EVERYTHING in an anime. Visually speaking, this anime can be both common and absolutely stunning, it really depends of the situation.
The episode 5.5 is a worthwhile extra to watch, it gives to the viewer tons of informations about the numerous inspirations of Kyousou Giga, like the origin of its title, the setting etc.

Kyousou Giga's characters are all trully gems, none of them are weak or anything, they all provide something interesting to the show. Nothing special to say about the soundtrack nor the opening / ending, it's good but not memorable.
