Mixed Feelings
Spoiler
I started this anime and on the first episode, I was blown away and left in tears. I thought the concept of having humanoids with lives of only 9 years was fascinating, and I thought that the idea of 'Wanderers', these humanoids gone wrong, was even better. At about episode 6, I came onto myanimelist to submit a review because I was SO thoroughly impressed by the series.
However, I decided to wait and now i'm glad I did. After episode 7, the ENTIRE anime focuses on the romance of Isla and Tsukasi and really, nothing else at all.
This anime had huge potential. Until episode 7, I was delighted to find something different, emotional and, at times, downright scary! But all that goodness faded away between episodes 7-13, which were so predictably boring I had to force myself to keep watching in the hope that the genius showed in the earlier episodes might return. It didn't.

There is one more retrieval after episode 8, which is exceptionally boring. Character development really comes to a grinding halt at the same time. I didn't think Isla and Tsukasa's relationship was particularly great, where it could have been and (spoiler alert)...

... by the time Isla was retrieved, I was just thinking, "Thank god she died, because they would've broken up in a couple of weeks anyway."

Overall, it was just a great idea gone wrong. The main focus (or what I thought was the main focus) of emotional connections between giftias and humans and having to let one another go, sort of went out the window. I think Wanderers could've been far more frequent, and I think there just could have been a lot more action and adventure in this. In the end, it just had a really... domestic and boring feel to it. I realise 13 episode animes are limited in what they can do, but I have seen fantastic one season animes before.

Really sad this wasn't done better. Worth watching episodes 1-8. The rest is predictable.
